welcome to mulberry's musings, a place to find lifestyle info and inspo from a lady who lives in the deep north of america. along the way, there will be plenty of sass, outfits, meals, podcast episodes, and hopefully you'll connect with the vulnerable thoughts about what life is like for an honest, late twenty-something.

deep north: a cultural and geographic region of the northern Midwest.

hi there, i'm melissa

stylist, home cook, creative, honest friend, homebody who lives in the deep north

my dear friend used to call me "mul" because she couldn't deal with calling me "mel" for short the way other friends did in my early twenties. despite my name being spelled m-e-l, she insisted on spelling it m-u-l because that was more phonologically accurate. mul became mulberry, and that's what she has called me for over ten year. only she and my husband call me "mulberry", and i'm frankly very fond of them both for that.

by day, i teach kiddos wearing the most trendy and useful outfit i can pull together at 5:30 in the morning, and then i'm probably commenting on your instagram during my prep or bathroom break. by night, i cook dinner with my husband nearly every night, watch an episode of our latest show, and try my damnedest to not fall asleep before 8:30. i am a jack-of-all-trades sort of lady who has been crocheting during movies since age eight, make floral arrangements on a budget, attempt to make my handwriting pretty and call it calligraphy, and plan weird events at my house for my favorite people here in minneapolis.

i think that the life you lead should be one that you're proud of, and that brings you great joy. i have created a life i love here in the deep north, and i'm grateful to be able to share a little of it with you.
